DishIt ("we", "us", or "our") is a recipe management app that helps you save, organize, cook, and share recipes. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it.
Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and name. You may also sign in with Apple or Google, in which case we receive only the basic profile information those services share (name and email).
Recipe Data: Recipes you save, import, or create — including titles, ingredients, steps, images, and notes — are stored on our servers and associated with your account.
Usage Data: We collect basic usage information such as which features you use and when, to improve the app. This data is anonymized and not sold to third parties.
Payment Information: If you subscribe to DishIt Pro, payments are processed by Apple via the App Store. We never see or store your payment card details. We receive a confirmation from Apple and RevenueCat when a purchase is made.
Imported Content: When you import a recipe from a URL, photo, PDF, or video link, that content is sent to our servers for processing. Images you upload are stored in secure cloud storage. For a user-initiated import from a public Instagram URL, we send that URL to our Instagram acquisition provider, Bright Data. Bright Data returns publicly available post metadata that may include the caption, creator attribution, outbound links, and a temporary media URL. We do not request Instagram credentials, account cookies, or private content.
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:
Your account and recipe data are retained as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time from the app's Settings screen, which permanently removes all your data from our servers within 30 days.
For Instagram imports, we retain the original public URL, the recipe draft you review, signal names used, and available creator attribution. Raw media is processed temporarily and is not retained or stored long-term by DishIt. We do not retain the provider response, full caption evidence, or complete transcription after the import is structured.
We use industry-standard measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), encrypted storage, and row-level security on our database to protect your data.
DishIt is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To exercise these rights, contact us at the address below.
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or an in-app notice.
